It means letting my mind go down, with my attention, my breath, with every cell in my body. When I ride like that, I'm stuck onto the horse. Sometimes I think of it as feeling the horse supporting my body.

In my experience, these changes of balance happen slowly, progressively, over time. I started doing some balance exercises last October and I can now tell that they are making a difference. I half expected to notice huge changes instantly! But no, there are little changes, and they keep happening as along as I keep doing some new things, paying attention, creating new muscle habits.

I would like to think that the effort I put into those exercises and anything I can think of for softening and stepping up to being in the role of leading the dance, that those things contribute to the successes in the saddle recently. I'm heading out for a ride now, and will see if the past few rides were flukes or the result of some changes. You can guess which is my hope! *g*

We have a special place at our new property that deserves a medicine wheel or a meditation maze or something. I think I will experiment with creating something like that for riding, not just for human use.Lasell Jaretzki Bartletthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16134811219333881818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3344836954494496679.post-33251889674333113042008-05-17T09:47:00.000-04:002008-05-17T09:47:00.000-04:00I love posts like these - you always get me thinki...I love posts like these - you always get me thinking.
